When you think of Jake Blauvelt’s riding style a natural, creative flow comes to mind. But then there’s the occasional explosive act within, berzerking you could say. Jake designed his pro model for his type of riding, one that fits this electrified current. It has a slight directional shape and 3/4 inch setback stance with a bit of rocker in the nose and subtle camber throughout, giving it easy turn initiation, float in pow, solid snap in and out of turns, and powerful ollies. It’s laced with Ride’s urethane Slimewall sidewalls for vibration dampening, smooth flex, and impact protection. With a hybrid layup of fiberglass between the top and bottom the board isn’t overly stiff (it’s rated a five out of ten on Ride’s flex scale), but multiple arrays of carbon extend from the bindings and tip and tail to further edge control and pop. It comes finished with a screaming fast sintered base, too. Like a lone artist painting his way down a white canvas, this board is Jake’s signature brush.
About the Graphic
Brazilian Artist Bruno Novelli (a.k.a. Bruno 9li) stormed up the graphic frenzy on this board. Novelli, of Brazilian and Italian descent, has a keen interest in Amazonian rituals, painting history, and animated GIFs. Check out more of his work at bruno9li.com.

Thirteen years into her career as a snowboarder, Hana Beaman has grown from a contest rider to the best backcountry freestyler in female snowboarding. The Big Bear, CA native talks the early days of Grenade in the Mammoth Mansion, fear of missing out, and being comfortably scared.
A few months back I invited Hana Beaman to the Volcom Pipeline house on O’ahu, HI for a week of September surf. She declined because she would be returning from South America the day before we were set to leave and had a wedding to attend that night. She thought it would be too hectic.
Hours into the trip and mid-edit of this interview the texts started coming in: “How many boards are there?” “What are the waves doing?” After waking up jetlagged and hung over from the wedding, Hana booked a flight for Hawaii leaving just four hours later.
Impulsive and afraid of missing out, Hana has a wild inability to sit still…

The revamped Baretta brought in rave reviews thanks to a new directional shape, a set-back stance, and a mellow camber that extends from the feet to the tail, and the Trident boot was selected as one of this season’s best boots.

Jake on a swallow tail? WTF I know it’s a prototype but Jake gets all the cool stuff before it even officially exists. Oh the perks of being a pro snowboarder… Maybe us mere mortal Ride employees will get to ride it soon. If you want to get a glimpse at what Ride will do, keep an eye on what Jake is riding. When he’s not riding his Berzerker, he’s our backcountry R&D department for new designs. Here is proof that he earns his turns!
