The RIDE Team Goes BERZERKER At Superpark

The RIDE Team Goes BERZERKER at Superpark

Now legally old enough to buy beer, Superpark turns 21 this year and the hits were just as heavy as a typical 21st birthday. Presented by Snowboarder Magazine, Superpark 21 was the biggest it’s ever been and the RIDE team destroyed every inch of snow, metal and wood for the entire event.

The Scene

After a record-breaking snowfall season, spring has finally arrived in the High Sierras of central California; and the energy was high as top riders from around the world descended on Mammoth Mountain. The features were massive and so were the expectations on the team as they set up to step up.

Berzerker at Superpark

From Yuki Kadono nearly setting the new record for airtime on a hip and Reid Smith sending the massive Loon Mountain-built wedge to Brandon Davis crushing every piece of transition in his path and young Keegan Hosefros tapping, bonking and tweaking his way across the mountain, RIDE dropped the hammer. Scroll down for some of the best shots we captured.

Shop Spotlight: Milo Snow and Skate

The team at Milo Auburn

We are in the business of selling tools for having fun. We aren’t selling image or attitude. We are in the FUN business. ~ Jason “Jay” Watson | Co-Owner, Milo Snow & Skate

The History of Milo

George Johnston is no stranger to the snowboard scene; his impressive list of contributions include operating Milosport in Utah for more than twelve years, establishing Milo’s shop team, and building relationships with some of the biggest and most influential names in the industry (seriously, check out the Milo Legacy Team). But with a growing family, Johnston left Salt Lake City in 2000 to head back to his home in California.

Settling in the Bay Area, Milosport Lafayette opened its doors in August 2000, bringing much-needed life to the local snowboarding community. Over the next fifteen years, Johnston and his team provided high-quality gear and service to an entire generation of rippers.

In 2015, Johnston and his longtime shop manager, Jason Watson, partnered up and decided to move closer to the mountains and Milo Snow & Skate was born. Now located in Auburn—less than 100 miles from Tahoe—Milo continues to deliver on gear and service and if you’re looking for a crazy colorway or niche brand, the chances are good that these guys have it.

Milo Auburn has great selection and great service.

The Milo Auburn Team

The shop team is made up of passionate people who live and breath the industry they represent. “Everyone in our Milo Family is key,” says Co-Owner Jason Watson. “Some of us might wear more hats than others, but we are all cogs that help this thing work.”

Add to the mix an amazing local skate team that is heavily involved in the community (check out their fundraising efforts for a new skate park in Colfax) and a snow team that produces so much content every season that it’s literally mind-blowing and it’s obvious that Milo works with the best people in the business.

“We are truly blessed to have so many great team members and athletes that want to be part of the Milo Family,” Watson adds.

The RIDE Connection

It started with a beer. Well, two beers.

“When Jim Linnberg—now the RIDE Global Brand Director—was our Sales Rep years ago, I made him have a two-beer minimum anytime he came into the store. This eliminated the possibility of a quick ‘pop-in’ and he quickly learned to come in towards the end of the day,” says Watson with a laugh. “In fact, I’m pretty sure he slept in his car in our parking lot once or twice.”

And it’s those relationships that have contributed to the success of Milo: “Jim Linnberg and Kendra Langston are really more like family to us rather than colleagues,” Watson adds. “And Topher [Laws] in the Pacific Northwest is awesome, too.”

RIDE + Milo Auburn - Get to ze choppa!

“But the bottom line is that RIDE has done a fantastic job at not only making very relevant products, but also hiring amazing people to sell them to us and support us in selling them to our customers.”

Thoughts on the Tahoe Snowboard Scene

Great mountains and great people is how the crew at Milo Auburn describes Tahoe. Plus, two seasons of incredible snowfall, a wide array of terrain, and easy backcountry access proves why the area is a snowboard mecca.

The Milo Auburn crew is always ready to answer questions and help out.

“We are excited that we get to be a part of this scene and wouldn’t pick anywhere else we would rather be,” says Watson.

Because of Snowboarding – Jake Blauvelt – Episode 6

You can describe Jake Blauvelt in many ways, but two words that resonate with the dynamic rider are: Well Balanced. From his aggressive riding to everyday life, Jake focuses tons of his energy on being well balanced. Yes, Jake kills it on the board, but to be able to consistently perform at such a high level demands dedication and hard work. Jake eats well, unplugs from everything by going fly-fishing, and knows he’s super fortunate to be able to do what he does.

Because of Snowboarding – Marco Feichtner – Episode 4

Ride Snowboard Pro Team rider Marco Feichtner might make snowboarding look easy, but the path to success has been anything but for the Austrian. Macro has a friendly, laid-back persona, and is the type of guy you like to be around. But, underneath it all he’s all business and thrives on hard work – it’s ingrained in his blood. In the fourth segment – which drops today – of Ride’s six-part video series “Because of Snowboarding,” Marco shows us how he lives big both on and off the snow – from throwing giant, stylish airs in the backcountry to digging into his artistic skill and passion for hand engraving masterpieces. For all the grom rippers out there, Marco has these words of advice: word hard and you will reach your dreams.

Released weekly, each short film is dedicated to highlighting a different pro rider, and captures the personal stories and intimacy each rider has with snowboarding.

Because of Snowboarding is directed and produced by Crispin Cannon and Shaun Anderson of The Solidarity Union.
